Apple released the HomePod back in 2018, and now we have the HomePod mini which proved to be a success – but Apple has much bigger plans for the home, and that will begin in 2022.
Apple has been cooking up some new HomePods, new Apple TVs, a hybrid gaming console, and of course, the mixed reality headset. But the following devices will be the precursor to Apple competing with Google Nest.
Right now, an Apple-branded doorbell, drone, and security camera are supposedly in the works.
Apple currently sells third-party doorbells, but eventually, Apple’s own doorbell could be on the way.
From what I’m being told, it’s in the development stage and is a part of Apple’s Home projects. This device may be paired with Apple’s AR/VR products featuring “touch devices.”
This will be a great move for Apple as it could bring LiDAR and even better camera capabilities to its doorbells and enhanced privacy features to protect the home.
Apple has been investing in drone technology over the past year and is said to be working on a drone themselves.
This device could also bring innovative new features such as LiDAR and huge camera improvements when controlling the device with an iPhone or iPad.
Unfortunately, this device won’t be coming anytime soon, and Apple is still filing patents for the technology of this device.
This one is actually something Apple has been working on for a while now.
Apple has wanted its own security camera to give users more privacy, ever since Google bought Tony Fadell’s Nest. When Nest was under Tony Fadell, there weren’t hacking or privacy issues until Google took over, and Amazon’s Ring is notorious for security scares where folks have even threatened others.
Apple will likely lead the way on privacy with these new security cameras. Apple’s many facial recognition technologies would allow notifications for when someone suspicious is on your lawn, as competing devices already offer.
Let us know what you think about Apple’s Plan to take on the home devices market.
